چکیده

A fiber twist sensor using a Sagnac interferometer incorporating tapered polarization-maintaining (PMF) is proposed. The transmission properties of the are investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Given optoelastic effect, which depends on geometry, modal group birefringences PMF can be controlled by applying different angles. spectral wavelength shifts, free ranges, losses original, microtapered, etched PMFs were compared. Notably, interference dips for move in opposite directions. As result, proposed PMF-based could have multiparameter sensing applications.

Mode-coupling analysis of anisotropic polarization-maintaining fibers.

We analyze the coupling between the fundamental vector modal fields of two parallel polarization-maintaining fibers. An improved coupled-mode theory is employed, which also applies to anisotropic materials. Results for the array-mode-propagation constants are presented as a function of the relative tilt angle between the principal axes of the two fibers.

Novel fiber optic polarimetric torsion sensor based on polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber [7004-158]

We proposed and demonstrated the application of a polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber for torsion sensing. The sensor has high twist angle resolution and exhibits reduced temperature sensitivity, making it an ideal candidate for torsion sensing.

Fiber optic pressure sensor based on polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber for downhole application

We experimentally demonstrate a high pressure sensor based on a polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (PMPCF) with Sagnac loop configuration for downhole application. The pressure sensitivity of the proposed sensor is 4.21 nm/MPa and 3.27 nm/MPa at ~1320 nm and ~1550 nm respectively. High pressure measurement up to 20 MPa has been achieved in our experiment. The sensor also shows redu...

Pressure sensor realized with polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber-based Sagnac interferometer.

A novel intrinsic fiber optic pressure sensor realized with a polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (PM-PCF) based Sagnac interferometer is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. A large wavelength-pressure coefficient of 3.42 nm/MPa was measured using a 58.4 cm long PM-PCF as the sensing element. Owing to the inherently low bending loss and thermal dependence of the PM-PCF, the pr...
